I have to warn you, this is my "first draft". I agree with Anne Lamott that a first draft should be very rough around the edges. The concept of writing should not be intimidating or scare a person. I more than once tried to get away with writing something only one time and not taking time to draft it first and then revise it. I have to tell you at some point you will embarace yourself. I like to the idea she proposes about writing in three stages.

I just finished student teaching in the first grade and this is exactly the concept my mentor teacher used and I saw how effective it was. Students were excited about writing time every day.
